The BSU Intercollegiate Athletic Department sports programs are a member of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

BSU sponsors the following NSIC sports teams : football, men and women’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s cross country, women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, baseball, men and women’s golf, and women’s tennis as a member of the NCAA Division II.

The WCHA men and women’s ice hockey teams are a member of the NCAA Division I. The Athletic Department is fully committed to equity and diversity in our faculty and students.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach include :

• Assisting the Head Coach with organization of the NCAA Division I Ice Hockey Program.
• Demonstrating a commitment to adhering to all rules and regulations of the NCAA Division I and WCHA.
• Recruiting students to participate in the ice hockey program.
• Providing on-ice coaching to participants.
• Traveling extensively for the program.

Minimum qualifications for this position include :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Athletic Coaching, Exercise and Sports Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rules.
• Two (2) years of NCAA Ice Hockey coaching experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes.
• Evidence of a strong work ethic and high level of integrity and
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Preferred qualifications include :

• Master’s Degree in Sport Management, Athletic Coaching, Exercise and Sports Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience working with defense or goaltenders.
• Excellent record-keeping skills that demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
• A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
